The role of Gatsby is a balding man who is a persistent feature. He is typically in the background, hanging out, drinking martinis.
In the scene where Czervik challenges Judge Smalls, he plays a VERY convincing role of being absolutely messed up on booze and other assorted drugs.
In the final act, he is seen drinking out of a pitcher which one would assume was water, until he is later seen pouring some into a female acquaintance’s martini glass.
The role is hilarious on its own, but the actor makes it even more fun.
The actor’s name is Scott Powell. He was also a member of the band Sha Na Na and played at Woodstock. There are videos of Sha Na Na with Jimi Hendrix watching on in admiration.
After Caddyshack, he went to med school and became an orthopedic surgeon, a role in which he served as the team surgeon for the 2008 Gold Medal US Women’s National Soccer Team
Anyway, this was a fun rabbit hole and I hope someone else can enjoy this in the future.
